As electric vehicle adoption grows across Australia, so does the need for smarter, more accessible charging infrastructure. At EVX, we’re not just rolling out chargers, we’re designing a network shaped by real data, local needs and forward-thinking technology. One of our most powerful tools in this process? Heat maps.

Smarter charging starts with smarter planning

EVX is proud to be a leading charge point operator (CPO) in Australia, with kerbside infrastructure projects already underway in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and South Australia. But we’re not deploying chargers blindly. Our rollout strategy is underpinned by detailed heat maps that show us where people want and need to charge.

According to our CEO Andrew Forster, these maps help identify not only the most popular charging locations, but also underutilised chargers that may need relocating, ensuring our investment is efficient, and that our assets are never left stranded.

Why kerbside charging matters

For millions of Australians living in apartments, units and terrace housing, home charging simply isn’t an option. That’s where kerbside chargers come in. Our pole-mounted chargers are designed to fit seamlessly into the existing streetscape, installed directly onto utility poles, and provide convenient access for drivers who park on the street.

With support from funding programs like ARENA and state governments, we’ve already deployed over 100 chargers in NSW and are now expanding with more than 120 additional installations planned nationwide.

Councils are coming onboard

Our EVX Polechargers are simple to install. Thanks to our licensed ability to modify utility poles (similar to telecommunications companies), the process is relatively straightforward for councils especially compared to building new charging stations from scratch.

That said, councils still play a critical role in preparing parking bays, signage and local permissions. As more of these chargers are installed, the process is becoming smoother, and the benefits clearer.

Safe, scalable and future ready

Our chargers are not only locally designed and built, but they’re made from public infrastructure-grade materials — waterproof, corrosion-resistant, and resilient to flood zones up to 800mm. They also include critical electrical safety features like automatic cut-off and temperature monitoring.

From a technical perspective, each charger features two 22kW sockets, ideal for medium-speed charging and perfect for everyday top-ups while you’re parked nearby. Importantly, our infrastructure is also futureproofed: components can be upgraded as EV technology evolves.

Our expansion continues, with active partnerships in place with RACV and support from councils across the country. Whether you’re in inner Sydney or regional Victoria, we’re working to ensure that everyone, regardless of their housing type, has access to convenient, reliable EV charging.
