EVX debuts Phase 1 of EVX Local Lens at Everything Electric Sydney, a free, web-based tool that maps real charging coverage across NSW and lets the public help decide where the next chargers go.
We unveiled EVX Local Lens, a new web app built to answer the question almost every prospective electric vehicle buyer asks first: would an EV actually work for my life? Phase 1 of the platform will be showcased publicly for the first time at Everything Electric Sydney between 18–20 September at Sydney Showground, where visitors can try it at Stand #G12.
Most people weighing up an EV aren’t asking about kilowatt-hours. They’re asking whether it fits the school run, the commute, the weekend away, and whether there’s anywhere to charge near the places they actually go. EVX Local Lens is designed to answer those questions with local, specific information rather than generic reassurance.
What visitors can do at the stand
- See real charging coverage — and the gaps. Local Lens maps EVX charging locations across New South Wales, so people can see what exists near home, work and the places they visit each week.
- Suggest a street that needs a public EV charger. Anyone can drop a pin on a location they believe needs charging infrastructure and explain why it matters.
- See what EVX has planned locally. Visitors can view what’s already in the pipeline for their own area.
The platform runs entirely in a web browser. There is no app to download to explore the map or suggest a location.
Where EVX Local Lens is heading
Phase 1 is deliberately focused. The wider vision for EVX Local Lens is a personalised planning tool: answer a short set of questions about your commute, budget and driving habits, and Local Lens builds your own “Typical Week”, how far you really travel, how often you would genuinely need to charge, and whether a battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid better suits your circumstances.
Crucially, the tool is being designed to always return a practical pathway rather than a dead end. Where local charging is limited, it points to the realistic options. Home, kerbside, workplace, destination or rapid charging, and gives people a constructive way to advocate for better local infrastructure.
Why a proof-of-concept, and why at Everything Electric Sydney
Rather than build the full platform behind closed doors, EVX has scoped a working proof-of-concept and taken it directly to the people it’s built for. Feedback gathered on the show floor will shape which features are prioritised as the platform is developed for a wider New South Wales rollout.
